Staint Patrick's Day~

Whether you're Irish or not, yesterday most people celebrated St Patrick's Day. With corned beef and cabbage, green beer, festive parades and for many it might have been mass in honor of the patron saint.  But for me I'm always reminded of the love and desire Saint Patrick had for his Creator and to do His will reaching the lost of Ireland.  His life was one of many hardships and of miracles as the Lord worked in and through his obedience to Christ.

Saint Patrick's example is one we all could follow.  As believers and followers of Christ - He's never left us unequipt to do His bidding; He has given us all that's needed through the Holy Spirit. He has also given us examples as we read the words of Paul who was inspired by the Holy Spirit to showing us how to live by his example.

If you are fighting in a battle or I hope not running from snakes equip yourself --

The Armor of God
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.  Ephesians 6:10-18

Remembering to pray for each other --

Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should. Ephesians 6:19-20

I've always loved reading the prayer on St. Patrick "Breastplate," with a portion I love saying for myself.  It is also called the Deer's Cry (more on that another time) also there are slightly different versions.

I bind unto myself today,
The strong Name of the Trinity,
By invocation of the same,
The Three in One and One in Three.

I bind this day to me for ever.
By power of faith, Christ's incarnation;
His baptism in the Jordan river;
His death on Cross for my salvation;
His bursting from the spiced tomb;
His riding up the heavenly way;
His coming at the day of doom☘️
I bind unto myself today.

I bind unto myself the power
Of the great love of the cherubim;
The sweet 'well done' in judgment hour,
The service of the seraphim,
Confessors' faith, Apostles' word,
The Patriarchs' prayers, the Phrophets' scrolls,
All good deeds done unto the Lord,
And purity of virgin souls.

I bind unto myself today
The virtues of the starlit heaven,
The glorious sun's life-giving ray,
The whiteness of the moon at even,
The flashing of the lightning free,
The whirling wind's tempestuous shocks,
The stable earth, the deep salt sea,
Around the old eternal rocks.

I bind unto myself today
The power of God to hold and lead,
His eye to watch, His might to stay,
His ear to hearken to my need.
This wisdom of my God to teach,
His hand to guide, His shield to ward,
The word of God to give me speech,
His heavenly host to be my guard.

Against the demon snares of sin,
The vice that gives temptation force,
The natural lusts that war within,
The hostile men that mar my course;
Or few or many, far or nigh,
In every place and in all hours,
Against their fierce hostility,
I bind to me these holy powers.

Against all Satan's spells and wiles,
Against false words of heresy,
Against the knowledge that defiles,
Against the heart's idolatry,
Against the wizard's evil craft,
Against the death wound and the burning,
The choking way and the poisoned shaft,
Protect me, Christ, till Thy returning.

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in the hearts of all that love me,
Christ in the mouth of friend and stranger.

I bind unto myself the Name,
The strong Name of the Trinity;
By invocation of the same.
The Three in One, and One in Three,
Of Whom all nature hath creation,
Eternal Father, Spirit, Word:
Praise to the Lord of my salvation,
Salvation is of Christ the Lord.

Hello! Thanks for stopping by my space and sharing:) I see you live in the mountain desert climate...very interesting and very beautiful! It must be a challenge to garden in that environment, but I am blessed to see you making an effort and gaining mastery (with potatoes and garlic) over the weather there!
I also saw St. Patrick's Breastplate!!! I am so excited. It is something we stumbled upon about 4 years ago as we sang hymns to Cyberhymnal on the web. It is so old-sounding and wonderful in praise to the Lord God. There were only several stanzas that we could have done without!
Praise God! I hope we can talk (type)again soon! lol
