I woke with an overwhelming feeling that had me in tears. I cannot quite describe to someone the feeling though I felt this before. Thoughts started flooding in and I wrote this down.
A long-awaited time.
As it goes by
with anticipation.
I long to see your face.
As when my husband
returned from a trip.
Oh, what glory
You have for those
who love You.
VLB 10.23.26
Did you ever long for something so deeply that the anticipation became almost hard to wait for?
I was looking in my husband's old Bible and opened to a few underlined verses, this is nothing new for me to do and, he was an avid reader who loved studying in the Word. His Bible (s) is full of underlined verses. I opened nonchalantly - the binding came apart to Ezekiel 1 and 2, and looked at verses he underlined. The lined verse that hit home was about the likeness of God's glory.
"Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. When I saw it, I fell facedown, and I heard the voice of one speaking." Ezekiel 1: 28 NIV
I'm not saying I'm Ezekiel, and there is so much to unpack in there, It is just a feeling I had. Can you imagine how he must have been feeling when seeing what he saw? Sometimes when I think about how close God is those He loves and the glory of what He has for those He loves. It does bring tears. I believe all who have given their hearts to Him do or will feel that way. Maybe ~ But as I re-read what I wrote I started to cry with an overwhelming sense for something coming. I know He is always with me through the Holy Spirit, this was different.
I'll wait with anticipation for His return or before that happens. We do read things, His words, in the Bible stating endurance with anticipating, eagerly waiting His return. Even when go through storms that seem to much; He does and will get us through them by faith.
Is He living in you? Are you eagerly waiting?
For you have died (to this life), and your (real) life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Colossians 3:3-4 ESV (NLT)
so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. Hebrews 9:27-28 ESV
All throughout the Bible you read about those who've wrestled with God, we do as well and we can learn many things for living here today reading His words. Paul is one that we often hear about and the trails he endured. I don't believe we can say the same - however we too have a fight to fight and a race to finish.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 ESV
Amen
With a side note here:
I realize today you might be overwhelmed with what to do next in this life. Fight the good fight of faith, run the race with endurance, truth the for your life and that of your household, stay in the word and let's eagerly wait for His appearing - however, short or long that might be.
Crowns were fashioned with Bay Laurel - back in the day.❤️
And, it's still Autumn ~ :)
