Why Does God Love Us?

Yesterday was Valentine’s Day and without getting into all the history of it I will say as a child I celebrated the day as all school children have over the years. In a post I wrote, Valentines ~ February of 2018, I was able to share several valentines I received from classmates my gram had saved. I also looked at the verb LOVE ~

As I recently read a few of my husband’s notes he wrote I wanted to share some of his thoughts to ponder. Yes, he was a romantic as I shared in his words posted 2018, today I wanted to share on the LOVE God has for us. I am not sure when Jim wrote this, sometime in 2010 as he was studying in Romans 8; he was always in the habit of writing verses out and then would write his thoughts.

Jim started with the question, “Why does God love us?” It's sometimes hard to believe that God loves us/me when I find it hard to love myself. Romans 8:29 says “For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, in order that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.”  If He foreknew me – before I was ever born – Then what? How much of who and what I am is a result of my own hands and what is God’s doing? Jesus paid all the cost associated with my sins in the eyes of God – Not necessarily in the eyes of the world. I know what the scriptures say ~ JB

People wrestle with the idea of God’s LOVE. Most recent I was sharing with someone I love - the eternal after the temporal life we now are living is gone. I shared that dying isn’t the problem it is where you – your soul - will be in the eternal. I have found that this is hard for some who believe and especially those who don’t.  Hebrews 9: 26-27 states; for he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgement, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

We ALL were born into a sinful world in need of saving. We all heard the story as told in the Bible of Adam and Eve, we are associated linked to this act through our own birth and God in His infinite wisdom not wanting any to perish had a plan! God has never changed how He feels about us, but we have a real enemy that uses deception to keep the truth from mankind, just as the serpent deceived Eve causing sin to enter the garden. Jesus paid the price, He paid with ALL He had to save everyone who believes. This is the LOVE of God and that NEVER will change – EVER.  VB

On another note, page Jim said, Biggest is your testimony in Christ. Last night I was watching the movie about Corrie Ten Boom. (Not sure if you’re familiar with her and her testimony.) Her family helped the Jews hide during WWII. Her and her family were arrested and imprisoned, Corrie and sister went in Ravens Bruck concentration camp. I’d recommend her book, although I must admit I’ve not read it yet. Anyway, her sister who died in the camp just days before Corrie’s release had a saying that I think applies, “No matter how deep the pit you think you’re in, His LOVE is deeper still.” JB

Jesus went to the deepest place not created for man but prepared for the devil and his demons (fallen angels), as Jesus said in Matthew 25. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice for the sinful nature of man. Man could not save himself even through all the sacrifices in keeping with the laws for atonement. We could never be perfect, so God saved us through His Son’s death on the cross, we have a choice here. All throughout the Bible it speaks of God’s LOVE and redemption for ALL who believe.  This is LOVE.

I have confidence in God knowing Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 NIV So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. Hebrews 6:18 NLT

My prayer has always been that those I love would come to know the One who LOVES them most as I have years ago. I stand on my own testimony of the LOVE God has for me and though I miss Jim very much I know he is where he is from the same LOVE. I will see Jim again as with everyone who has gone ahead; all those who have believed.

Do not give up while in the storm - losing hope - from what you think you should be seeing or think should be happening in this world around you and isn't. TAKE REFUGE Do not be deceived listening to man’s babble of lies. Praise God in all things let your heart rejoice in the God who loves you and get in the Word of the One who cannot lie. VB

My heart was once empty.

Not knowing where to turn,

I seem to call out for answers.

With nothing in return.

What was I to do I thought?

I was so unhappy inside.

But cry ~

God heard me!

It took some time.

To recognize His LOVE

God got through.

GOD’S LOVE NEVER FAILS ~

I liked the heart I shared from a card. :)
