Connected To The Root ~

My Dad has a beautiful Spanish Bayonet, I think also called a Yucca Tree, that I have been watching for years. Out of that plant many more have started from all the seeds that had been spread about by wind, mowing (sometimes) and or just regular clean-up. Each year we say "I wonder how big this will get?" And, my Dad over the years had given it a bit of help with watering during especially dry spells.  Below are a few shots of what I'm sharing this morning.

 May 2017

May 2018

Though each photo is not exactly the same, in the top photo you can see it growing off the side and in another photo the following year you can see that a part fell - from weight and wind. But still was producing beautiful stocks that bloomed, you can see in the above photo as it remained part of this useful fascinating desert plant.

Each year with some watering this desert beauty grew bigger and the size of the shoots that bloomed were larger themselves. This plant grows in many places here in the desert and is pretty draught tolerant but grows significantly bigger with a bit of water. Those growing around parts of the desert count on the Monsoons and other rains that may occasionally come through. It also needs to stay connected to the root.

This years growth was phenomenal! I was out of town previous two years and was not able to capture pictures. This year I thought I grab a few pics but only those below after another wind caused another part to fall, May 18, 2021- As you can see the growth over the years, and as long as it stays connected to the plant source - basically the root, it will continue to produce, as well as the first fall/break off is still doing the same, each continue to produce growth and blooms that turnout seeds for more plants.

What you aren't able to view is the older portion as it is covered by the newer part that fell.  A thrasher was rather baffled since it went gathering more twigs for a nifty nest it was fashioning but the wind stopped the nest from being finish there! I felt bad for the bird.  .  .

God's word uses many analogies in nature as well as life experiences to point out what should be our focus and the importance of being connected to the ROOT and staying connected.

As you have therefore received Christ Jesus, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. Colossians 2:6-10 NKJ

The word connected, in Webster dictionary, I chose two definitions,  - joined or linked together  - having the parts or elements logically linked together.  Webster also mentions properties and a portion of that definition I thought was interesting,  -  also incapable of being separated into two or more closed disjointed subsets.

Disjointed is a lack of connection and subsets are part of a related group of a larger thing.
Rooted, here are a few things that apply and continuing with the plant theme. [noun] The part of a plant which attaches in the ground or to a support conveying [to move in a continues stream] water and nourishment to the rest of the plant. [verb] being rooted - establish deeply and firmly.

As long as the part of the Spanish Bayonet that fell keeps attached - even a portion of it -it will continue to grow and produce.

There are times in our lives we fall making mistakes, struggle with hardships, or are hurt by others, even those closest to us. I'm here to say - stay connected to the ROOT.  If you have followed my blog for a time you will see my life has not been without trails, hardships, mistakes to list a few, I remained connected to the source, the ROOT.

There are plants that if a part breaks off and is no longer connected to the main source another part can be grafted or transplanted into the source and become a part of that plant.

For if their being cast away is reconciling of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?  For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches. And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches, But boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you. You will say then, "Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in." Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith.  Romans 11:15-20 NKJ

Though I have witnessed many evils during this life of mine, I have never witness evil to such a degree. When we are witnessing things not just evil but those applauding the evil - indorsing it wholeheartedly. When evil is now accepted as good and good in now evil in eyes of those deceived.  I want to be rooted - grafted - connected to the source and that is JESUS! Are you connected to the living Root?

"And, in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, Who shall stand as a banner to the people; For the Gentiles shall seek Him, And His resting place shall be glorious." Isaiah 11:10 NKJ

As we are witnessing prophesy happen before our eyes my prayer is that, 'Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you being rooted and grounded in love may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height - to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.' Ephesians 3:17-19 And, that you grow and walk in a manner pleasing to Him - in faith not one of fear and spreading seeds for the harvest ~ Amen

Be in prayer for Israel, our Nation, our Government - Praise the Lord today and thank Him for all He is doing in our lives. VB

For those who looked at this post earlier I added one last photo. Starting from the top left and going clockwise.  Spanish Bayonet seed pod from the bloom. This is a pod from last year it is darker - weathered from the sun. Each bloom will have one. Lower left one of the three parts of the pod is opened to see the it is full of seed - each seed is side by side. Lastly, all the seeds from the one part - each part has the same or similar amount of seed.

If I were to look at this as something more like maybe St. Patrick and the shamrock, or a farmer with an egg --  3 Parts but one pod each full and producing seeds.  We are one with the body - rooted into Christ a strong foundation and our growth in Him from being connected should produce many seeds. All in turn  doing the same.  :)
